Urban Walkways

For those who desire a space for walking, three parks are available within the town limits of Sparta.

Crouse Park 

314 Cherry St., Sparta, NC

The park features a paved walking trail, a covered picnic area, and a playground. This park also has an amphitheater for music and is the site of local arts and music festivals. 

Veteran's Memorial Park

254 Duncan St., Sparta, NC

The park has a walking path 1/3 mile in length, a covered picnic shelter, and fishing access. The park is open to the public when not in use for programming through the County Recreation Department.

Sam Brown Mountain Park

115 Atwood Street, Sparta, NC

This park has six hiking trails varying in difficulty from easy to moderately strenuous, an ADA accessible picnic area, benches, and animal identification signage for children.
It is located near the Alleghany County Public Library, Blue Ridge Development Center, and Alleghany High School.
